Selling your luxury items can be a great way to make some extra money and make room for new pieces in your collection.
Tips For Selling Your Pre-Owned Luxury Fashion
Many people use the reverse hanger hack to help them decide what to sell. Simply hang all your clothes with the hanger facing away from you, and as you place a clean item back into your wardrobe, turn the hanger around. After six months you’ll easily be able to see what items you haven’t worn by which way the hanger is facing and therefore can be sold.
Alternatively, the KonMari Method is often used, if an item sparks joy it is kept, if it doesn’t then it’s sold.
Once you’ve decided which luxury items you’d like to part ways with, consider the below to help you achieve the best price and the quickest sale:
Some luxury items such as the Hermes Birkin, Chanel Flap Bags and even Louboutin So Kate Heels are always in demand and can be sold at any time of the year. With items such as summer dresses, sandals, and heavy boots, you’re likely to sell quicker (and potentially for a higher price) if you list them when demand is higher. Consider events throughout the year too, if you’re selling luxury jewellery then Valentine’s Day and Christmas are prime purchasing times for jewellery as gifts.
Pricing your pre-owned luxury fashion items can be tricky, but it's important to price them fairly to attract buyers. Our team are here to help you with this too. Research similar items online to get an idea of their value, and take into account the condition, rarity, and age of your item.
Include a number of images of your products, from different angles. Highlight any details on your luxury goods, from buttons to pocket stitching, logos to serial numbers and most importantly any wear and tear. It’s important that potential buyers can really see the product they’re purchasing and spending this extra time on imagery can help your listing to sell quicker. We always recommend at least five images and to include images of any proof of authenticity such as receipts.
As with your imagery, pick out distinctive features of your luxury items in your description. For instance include information about the material, pattern, hardware, chain length, heel height: the more detail you can give, the better the picture you’re painting for prospective buyers.
At Hewi we often have products sell within the same day they’re listed; often in the same hour! However if you’re finding that your items are receiving views but aren’t selling, our team are on hand to offer advice on improvements to make to your listing, based on their years of experience in selling luxury fashion.
